Corporate team-building activity: Forest Pirates

Forest Pirates is like a treasure hunt — and in this case, the treasure is looking around and discovering the beauty of the local area. In fact, only by looking with curious eyes can we get to know and protect nature.

The main goal of Verallia’s team-building experience was to preserve the natural beauty of the place while raising awareness of the species encountered and their importance for local biodiversity.

Forest Pirates: an activity to engage and learn

This activity took place at Pian delle Pietre, an area rich in biodiversity within the Province of Savona’s system of areas of environmental and natural interest. What does Forest Pirates involve?

  1. WildSteps terrestrial biologist Federico Biguzzi guided participants through a scientific briefing, highlighting the importance of local biodiversity
  2. Divided into 5 teams, participants took part in an exciting “biodiversity hunt”
  3. A specific focus is chosen for each activity; in this case, pollinator species, which are becoming increasingly rare in the area
  4. After the exploration, the teams came together for a scientific debriefing
  5. At the end of the experience, participants shared the knowledge they had gained during the activity, along with their reflections

The social and environmental impact of Verallia’s team building

The results of the post-event feedback were outstanding. 78% of participants reported a significant increase in their environmental responsibility, while 84% felt they had gained tangible tools to help protect nature.

In addition, spending time in nature has several benefits for people’s mental health. After the activity, 95% of participants felt less stressed.

These results highlight the transformative power of team-building experiences in nature. Through direct experience, it is possible to encourage behavioral change and inspire concrete climate action.
