Team building knows no seasons. Even in winter, we offer experiences that stimulate collaboration and growth.
Our winter team-building proposals, carefully selected from WildSteps’ main formats, range from outdoor experiences — nature and local-area exploration — to indoor activities, such as culinary challenges and thought stimulation.
To best reflect this diversity, in this article we have chosen three unique experiences, each taken from one of three core categories: land, growth and creativity, and territory and food.
Why do team building even in winter?
Winter is often seen as a season of “hibernation” for corporate activities, but it is precisely during this time that the team needs to recharge the most.
Short days and the indoor routine can weigh down the work atmosphere; breaking this pattern with a winter team-building experience allows you to turn the cold season into a powerful element of cohesion.
Discovering the quiet beauty of nature under the snow, attending talks to broaden horizons, or exploring local flavors together can help create a deep connection within the team.
Doing team building in winter means investing in the group’s resilience, offering a boost of energy that regenerates corporate well-being and increases motivation exactly when it is needed most.
Land: Slow Snow
Team building on the snow through citizen science and collaboration
Slow Snow is our unique format that combines mindful exploration of snowy landscapes with citizen science and team-building activities. You will be accompanied by our enthusiastic, expert nature guides and experience a regenerative snowshoe hike, discovering the life hidden beyond the snow and the secrets of frozen water.
What does it involve?
This guided snowshoe hike, lasting 3 to 5 hours, combines slow movement and team challenges:
- Citizen science: teams use the Snow Scope tool to measure snow and upload data, actively contributing to climate change research and increasing their environmental awareness.
- Rescue mission: a dynamic group activity where participants, divided into teams, take part in a practical mini-mission with snowballs, strengthening collaboration and attention to safety, all under the guidance of certified professionals.
- Learning: the experience ends with a debriefing and hot drinks to reflect on climate impact and group dynamics.
Where does it take place?
Ideal for groups of 8 to 40 participants, this snow-based team-building activity takes place in snowy mountain environments rich in biodiversity, such as Alpine and Apennine natural parks. Some examples of ideal locations are:
- Alagna (Valsesia, Vercelli)
- Rota d’Imagna (Lombardy)
Key benefits
Slow Snow guarantees a targeted regenerative impact on:
- Teamwork: improved through practical challenges and the shared mission.
- Environmental awareness: direct learning about biodiversity and climate change.
- Well-being: physical and mental well-being through mindful movement in nature.
- Active citizenship: a real contribution to science through data collection.
Growth and Creativity: inspirational talks and workshops
Winter team building that stimulates thinking and strategy
For the growth and creativity category, we propose a hybrid activity that combines two different forms of stimulation: guided reflection and practical strategy application. In a sustainable corporate team-building activity, we combine an inspirational talk with a dynamic workshop; in this article, the selected workshop focuses on working with bees.
What does it involve?
This experience blends theoretical inspiration with practical observation, creating a strong bridge between thought and action:
- Inspirational talk: an in-depth thematic moment that we decide together, ideal for expanding horizons and entering new perspectives of thought. The talk is a stimulating frontal presentation, with moments for discussion and exchange, focused on motivation, inspiration to act, and positive behavioral change.
- Practical workshop: participants observe the work of bees and the complex logic that governs the hive up close. Then, the rationale behind this natural super-organization is translated directly into your team’s work dynamics and strategy.
Where does it take place?
Entrambe le attività si possono svolgere sia indoor che outdoor a seconda delle vostre preferenze.
Key benefits
This unique combination offers complementary benefits that are essential for team development:
- Vision, motivation and change: the talk inspires new ideas, encourages the adoption of new perspectives and, through guided discussion, stimulates inspiration to act and behavioral change.
- Strategy, roles and collaboration: observing the hive offers a perfect model of role division, collaboration and efficient strategy, directly applicable to business challenges.
- Project management: observing the organizational dynamics of the hive offers a stimulating perspective to implement in project management. This experience makes it possible to analyze how to map resources, optimize the communication of intentions and identify the most effective strategies to put into action for collective success.
Territory and food: Landscape Testing
Team cohesion through the flavors and history of the local area
For lovers of the local area and culinary explorers, winter can be an excellent time to venture into a sensory discovery experience. We offer our food-and-wine exploration format, where the pleasure of tasting meets environmental awareness.
What does it involve?
This activity, which we call Landscape Testing, is a complete immersion in the world of the producer and the local area:
- Mini trekking and history: a short guided trek through vineyards and fields, enriched by the direct testimony of the producer. You will hear anecdotes and stories about the impact of climate change and biodiversity loss on local agriculture.
- Sensory tasting: this is followed by a tasting experience of natural wines, often with Triple A producers — Farmers, Artisans, Artists. Everything is accompanied by a carefully designed food-and-wine pairing, created to stimulate the senses and deepen learning about wine and its technical description.
- In-depth exploration: the experience can be integrated with a short presentation on sustainability topics and the connection between food and territory.
Where does it take place?
The entire activity takes place in evocative, high-quality locations, selected for their ethics and philosophy:
- Ideal environment: noteworthy wineries, agritourisms and farms, rigorously selected according to Triple A criteria — Farmers, Artisans, Artists.
- Location: welcoming indoor spaces for the tasting and outdoor trails — vineyards, olive groves and so on — for the trek and testimony.
Key benefits
This activity creates strong and lasting memories, working on multiple relational and learning levels:
- Collaboration and shared memory: spending time together among the vineyards and sharing an intense sensory experience creates a beautiful shared memory and strong relational dynamics.
- Sensory stimulation and learning: the senses are stimulated through food-and-wine pairing, while participants gain new knowledge about wine, how to describe it, and its connection with the territory.
New perspectives: listening to the producer’s challenges, such as climate impacts, offers concrete learning and stimulates reflection on the interconnection of systems.
Which activity should you choose for your team?
Choosing the right experience depends on the goal you want to achieve. If the focus is corporate well-being and stress release, an immersive activity like Slow Snow is ideal.
If, on the other hand, you feel the need to realign roles and internal communication, the hive workshop offers immediate strategic insights. To reward the group and consolidate the sense of belonging, Landscape Testing is the perfect choice.
Each of our proposals is designed to place people and the environment at the center, ensuring a positive impact that comes back to the office with you.
